Activity 5-C-1 was a challenge!
I started out feeling positive about the group wiki project.
I began the assignment by getting familiar with wiki. Since I had no prior experience, I wanted to get a feel for how it works. My first step was to set up some topic categories and links. Initially, my focus wasn’t really the content of the assignment, but how I was going to navigate through wiki and get the information posted and linked.
Typically, when I begin a project, I consider it a work in progress. I felt frustrated when I was working on something and did not have it tweaked to where I wanted it or was able to apply a group member’s suggestion . . . . and then it was edited or removed.
Before using a wiki in my classroom, I will definitely need to spend more time exploring the tool myself.

Learning how to create with a new tool while collaborating with others under a deadline is a challenge. If you were using this with your students, you would definitely want the students to feel comfortable with using it before involving them in a complex project. I still have difficulty editing someone else' contributions! Mindy
The first time working with a group in a wiki can be a challenge. It is a task that many of us have never experienced before and then you add the difficulty of trying to use an unfamiliar tool. In a group project, it might help by assigning subtopics to each individual. Each person is in charge of researching and building their corresponding page. The other members then can review, add, or edit to your subtopic. If it gets removed, remember you can always revert back using that history tab. If the members are inexperienced with building a wiki, pages and information can inadvertently get removed without them even realizing it. I know I have done it before! Thank goodness for that history button! When you have some extra time, you might want to go through some of the excellent tutorials such as the Wiki Walk-Through that I mentioned in my blog. Mindy
